So it's interesting, my USB to serial convertor (created the usb port as com 5, but neither application goes beyond the basic 1-4, so I changed it to be at com4)..

Vag come, using my hex com, fires up, tests fine, checks DTC's fine, clears DTC's fine, fine fine fine..

ECUx after selecting my properties file, will not pull the DTC's and logging gives me a can't communicate with ECU, or response not received or other error. What's interesting is the hex-com has communications, so it's not like ECUx can't get to the ECU.

What's interesting is the errors I'm getting now with this "weird setup" are the same as I had when I ran the hex-com via normal serial port on my old system in windows 2000.. SAME Exact errors, but the old setup if I was patient enough and the moon was just right would start to work..

Not so with the usb to serial adaptor. But why does VAG-com work fine??

So I guess I need to A) get yet another laptop with a serial, or the hex-com is bad news with ecux..
