Default VAG-COM questions

I have always been intrigued by this tool, mostly just because I want to turn off the open-door/seatbelt ringing and give my key fob window controls. Other than that, what other uses are there for the $250 cable/software package. Should I get one or just find someone on the Main Line of PA to do a couple things for me? Thanks.

Default Does it do the same things?

A bit more expensive though, I think if I was going to get something I would get Vag-Com.

Default Yes, ProDiag is portable and convenient; it does similar things as VAG-COM...

VAG-COM is more technically adaptable and gives the user more tools to integrate with the data extracted from the ECU since it can utilize applications within the Windows platform.

It's really a matter of preference. I believe that pricing for both items are the same ($249-$275). Both require the investment in either a Palm handheld device (ProDiag) or a PC (VAG-COM). Both are fine product, IMHO.

Default Couple things to consider when reading my opinion......

We use them a lot. Daily, on different cars. For the average audi owner, the components may not see as much use ,and may essentially work better.

We have both at the shop, and VAG-COM has been undeniably dependable. Never any problems, for years.

Pro-daig, has problems connecting, cable connector for palm sucks, works better or worse with different palm models, I'm just generally disgusted with it. We've had it for maybe a year. And we sell it. *cough*

Support and knowledge base for VAG-COM is light-years ahead of ProDiag.
