A way that AoA could offer tuning products and warranty them.

A way that AoA could offer tuning products and warranty them.
I think that one of the reasons that Audi doesn't offer chips, exhausts, and other performance enhancing products is that for each of product, Audi would have to have them pass all the govermental regulations...EPA, DOT, etc.
However, small tuning companies like APR, MTM, ok, ok ABT doesn't have to go through all the regulations. So how about AoA creating a subsidiary company to sell such products and warranty them at a premium?
It's just an idea. What are some other hurdles? How about it, AoA?

I'd gladly pay a "premium" or audi parts that were warrantied..
Example: Tuner Chip = $500, Spare ECU = $500
With audi, if they charged $1500 for a "chip", I'd pay it. And they'd get $1300 in their pockets to cover warranty repairs(assuming a chip would cost them $200 to make). Even if 1/20 chipped turbo folks had a turbo failure, they'd STILL make mad money and cover any warranty costs.
Alex.

They would need to get a CARB EO # for any chipping products
and look into getting an underwriter to sell warranty extensions to them
little known fact is that th 4/50K warranties from BMW (and I presume Audi),
are actually bought as a package from underwriters and administered internally
but to get serious..they haven't done anything public about disclosing or identifying the 2000-2001 turbo issue
and the O40 tire replacement offer came on the heels of the Ford/Firestone fiasco
I'm not holding my breath, waiting for AOA to sell any "serious" goodies anytime soon

gawd...given my recent experiences with the "warranty"...
I am more convinced than EVER that AoA would never warranty ANY aftermarket stuff here. Their line on problems is that if the car is running, it doesn't need fixing no matter HOW annoying the problem is. With all the problems I've had getting a legitimate concern looked at STOCK, can you IMAGINE the idea that they would want to cover this car with any MORE performance?
Somewhere at Audi they are trying to keep the lid shut on the pandoras box of turbo replacements...they KNOW that a huge percentage of S4's were chipped and the problems which lead to turbo failures (hoses/valves etc) seem to have already had numerous changes/revisions...they didn't engineer the S4 ENOUGH as it was, let alone with any MORE performance.
Wait until you bash you head against the wall that is AoA and you will realize this is just a pipe dream.

No, most likely thats not the reason...
A lot of the japanese tuners get CARB certification with no problems on their stuff.
Audi won't ever sell factory aftermarket parts for the same reason BMW doesn't -- it allows a lower-cost vehicle to compete in sales with higher cost vehicles.
Audi doesn't want you to chip a 1.8t, they want you to just buy a 2.8. No chipping a 2.7t, just get a 4.2.
