Well, it finally happened......I was rear-ended yesterday morning on the way to work................
by a top-heavy, wallowing, pig Mini-Van. I was stopped at a light, and the guy in the van just wasn't watching. I sat there watching him in my mirror a good five seconds or more coming at me and not stopping, with no where for me to go. I had a Saab 9-5 about four feet in front of me, so I moved up a couple of feet, hoping that would be enough room, but NOOOOOO. The nano-second before the van hit, the Saab finally moved away, but it was too late....BAM. It was at least a slow bumper to bumper impact, and I let off the brake right before, hoping to lessen the damage. Probably just the bumper cover and the lower valance, and maybe whatever Audi uses as an energy absorber. Oh well. The guy's insurance is American Select (never heard of them). But I do plan on them REPLACING all parts, and NOT repairing existing parts. At least I won't be without a car for weeks and weeks. I might as well have the body shop touch up a few chips in the front, and maybe have them shoot the bottom of the mirrors body color (never did like that black).

Sorry to hear about it. Hate those D@mn mini-vans!...
You said the driver was inattentive. Was he: 1. trying to herd the unbuckled kids from within the car? 2. reading the paper, eating breakfast & searching for his coffee in one of his 23 cupholders? 3. getting a hummer from his wife like Steve Martin in Parenthood?

i think i came a asross a guy who had that American Select insurance company and they SUCKED, they tried to blame everything on me.. I think it was American Select, but in your case i hope they dish out the cash for you!!!

Extremely sorry to hear it...I have a big fear of getting rear-ended on I-75 due to ultra short
stopping distance required for the S versus all the DAMN trucks being driven by the clueless sheep. Stopped at a light is inexcuseable (sp?); was the person on a cell phone or just not paying attention?
Sincerely hope she will be as good as new very soon! What body shop will you be using, BTW? I wouldn't accept anything but all new parts as well. Good Luck! {The Imola, she's a soo beautiful...}

I think that he was just not paying attention. I couldn't get mad at him, he was very apologetic....
and was truly sorry. I told him it was ok, **** happens. I plan on taking it to Glendale Body Shop, just a few hundred yards down the street from Northland Audi. They do great work. I will let them order the parts, and drive it until they are ready to install them. If you see me on the street with a f**ked-up rear bumper, just promise that you won't make fun of me !!! I am used to the "S" being perfect, so this thing is driving me nuts just knowing that it is there.
