so far it won't operate in the "hands off" configuration. No sound from the speakers, and presumably no mike input. The car has Bose and I found a note in the manual that the phone selection feature (choosing between left and right speakers) is disabled for Bose units. Or perhaps they meant NO speaker phone with Bose. I'll run it up the chain at my dealership tomorrow.

The 98 phone, BTW, has a much larger control box than the new phones. The new ones are designed to be nestled in behind the CD changer (up near the left rear fender). The old box won't fit there. Fortunately the wiring harness can be pulled out to connect to the old control box mounted on the lower side of the rear deck lid.

I'm very interested in what you find out. Is there anyone else who offers a voice activated phone?

The bose doesn't allow speaker selection because
there is a dedicated speaker for phone only with the bose system.
