What is the best synthetic oil and oil specification for S4
I am running MTM chip and LLTek exhaust and car seems to run hot,(always has) with in specifications though. I was wondering if a good synthetic would help to keep things cooler? Oh yeah, I have 9000 miles on the car now, so I think it is ok to switch now. I have heard people speak of Mobil 1 but what specification should I run (i.e. 5w30)?

Re: What is the best synthetic oil and oil specification for S4
I had my dealer put in 15W-50 Mobil 1 at the first oil change last month, which he recommends. I'll run that for the summer (which includes QCUSA driving school at Summit Point end of July -- hot!!) and then switch to 5W-30 during the next oil change in the Fall.
If you're subject to cold winters and hot summers like I am, I think this is a good plan.<p>John G

Use an oil that meets both API-SJ and ACEA-A3 specs (long)
Like Mobil 1 15w-50 or Castrol 5w-50. Mobil 1 5w-30 is only rated A1.

Gasoline Sequences
A1 Oil intended for use in gasoline engines specifically designed to be capable of using low friction, low viscosity oils with a High Temperature / High Shear Rate Viscosity of 2.9 to 3.5 mPa.s. These oils may be unsuitable for use in some engines. Consult owner manual or handbook if in doubt.
A2 General purpose oil intended for use in most gasoline engines with normal drain intervals, although it may not be suitable for some high performance engines.
A3 Stable, stay-in-grade oil intended for use in high performance gasoline engines and / or for extended drain intervals where specified by the engine manufacturer, and / or for year-round use of low viscosity oils, and/or for severe operating conditions as defined by the engine manufacturer.
