Default What can cause IAT to read high or actually be high? and Ign. timing low!

Have RS4 ICs and shrouds with RS4 bumper.

All mods in the sig. Piggie installed.

Wonder if maybe some missing heatshields could cause this? Bad IAT sensor? We know the turbos are fine (checked), inlet pipes are not clogged.

Note: have not converted to the M-box/hiatchi setup. It's still on the 2000 A-box code with RS4 maf housing (83mm) and stock bosch maf sensor.

However, the ign. timing is still low (10-12 degrees near redline) for what I have. (reference: Piggiesmalls ign. timing is in high teens low 20's and basically modded the same way mine is)

Some basic data to share:
Boost level: 23.5psi - 21psi
MAF: 297 g/s
Correction factors: max. 9

IAT reads about 30-40 degrees F higher than ambient during cruising.
Rises another 30-40 degrees F during full throttle runs.

Default high ambient temps...............(MORE about RS4 ICs and AWE's)

also......it is CLEAR now that RS4 ICs heatsoak and don't do as good of a job as AWE ICs in keeping IATs lower and in turn, for better timing. After looking at countless logs, even Piggie Smalls...IATs climb 25-30 degrees during a pull with RS4 ICs whereas AWE ICs generally climb 10-15 degrees. This obviously affects your overall Timing curve. IPP's have the same trend as RS4s too (25 degree climb or so). Only the DUH FMIC kept IATs lower (smililar to AWE) during a run/pull.

Default ? I've seen logs where the AWEs clime 30deg as well...don't think you can use that as a

single measurement for better/worse conditioning ie at 40deg ambients my RS4s climb maybe 15-20 deg on a FATS pull, at 80deg I gain 25deg on avg.

Default we tested during the heat wave and it was 105 degrees that day ,took 1.5 hours to get to his....

house with ac on full blast, we watered down the ic`s and went testing car never cooled off.
i think the iat was 130 and under full throttle at redline it only went up 10degrees
i have ko3`s with apr 93oct chip, stock airbox/filter

Default im sure..........

AWEs could climb 30 degrees as well, but that would most likely be on a hotter (higher ambient) day, or say multiple (repeated pulls/runs) where lots of heatsoak is builing in. But looking at logs from 4-5 cars with AWEs, 3 cars with RS4s, one with a DUH, and another with IPP...all logged in pretty much similar conditions, you can CLEARLY see that the IAT curve on RS4 is higher than AWEs consistently, esepecially above 5000k rpms.

*PS* im prob just bitter for not going AWEs at the moment! lol
