Default What do think about this S4 deal?

It is a 2000 S4 with 90,000 miles. It is silver with grey (white)/black interior. It has manual transmission and the car is really in mint condition. The owner is asking $17,000... The main problem is the lack of ANY SERVICE RECORDS. I drove the car and everything seemed ok. The owner has agreed to have the car inspected, but what do you think? Pass it up or what? Thanks for any help.

No mods, and owner said he did not take it to Audi dealership past the 50,000 mile warranty...

Default I would pass

You can get one with much lower mileage for just a couple thousand more. I would shop around. No records doesn't mean much. The saab dealer never wanted to give me receipts for service. They always said it was in their system. As DM-S4 says, ask the guy to get the records from his dealership.

Default The question is, WHERE are the records?...

Certainly it was serviced during those 90K miles, right? Wasn't it serviced at the dealer? Even if he lost HIS records the dealer has them all on file. If this car was not maintained by the dealer and the guy also has no records, then is he a mechanic? If so, I'd say if the car looks mint and drives good then have it inspected and if all goes well then buy it.

What about the 90K is there high risk of turbo failure if the car is stock?

Default turbo failure is a roll of the dice with these cars.

some grenade turbos after 10k while running stock boost, others last well over 100k chipped on stock turbos.

Having turbos replaced costs about $5K - $6K, do you have that much cash in your savings account?
