What do you guys use on your engine covers to clean them off? Would mothers back to black be ok?

WD-40. Seriously. It's one of the good uses for it.
My buddy used to spray everything on the Mazda GTU race car if they wanted the engine to look good.
I just sprayed some WD-40 on my covers the other day and they look perfect. WD-40 is great under the hood, just not as a lube.

I use WD-40 too, but not for the looks. Use it to clean rubber hoses. It removes the green...
discoloration like magic and the rubber will look brand new again. Then spray rubber with 303.
