What does your steering wheel badge look like?
I have '01 S4 with build date of 4/01 and the steering wheel badge does not look like the s/w badge in the 2001 A4/S4 brochure or the 2002 S4 brochure. Mine has the red part on the left and a solid silver block on the right with the S4 letters on top. In the brochure, it just shows the red box and then the S4 logo....no silver background. The badge on the Tach looks identical to the brochure.

but it is not the original logo....there are no Audi rings on the red portion; the S4 lettering is exactly the same as the logo on the tachometer and the front and rear of the car. The silver part is not split up into two parts. There is just a solid rectangle behind the S4 letters that is part red and the rest is brushed silver appearance.

i've got the same thing. 4/01 build. the sport wheel on my 98 a4 (m)
doesn't look like it. it looked more like the old S4 logo.

That's the normal '01 badge for the steering wheel.
They needed a background for the "S4" lettering so that is why the silver is there.
