Default What I noticed with my APR downpipes.

With the test pipes on I could reach ~100mphs in 3rd gear before reaching the rev limiter, now with the cats back on, 3rd gear maxs at ~90mphs. Didn't realize how much of a difference the testpipes make on the car.

Default You are mistaken.

your gearing doesn't change whether or not you have cats on

unless your clutch is slipping, redline in 3rd gear is almost exactly 100mph (indicated).

Default I understand gearing doesn't change but the RPM difference between

the testpipes and cats is noticable. I just switched them out to get a smog check and that is what I noticed.

Default My APR does have a rev limiter. It's somewhere north of 7k rpm I hit it when I ran my 13.1. It's

there, you just have to go extremely high to get to it. :-p

Default

umm, if gearing doesn't change, then RPM in a given gear at a given speed does not change

Default Did you shift into 4th on that 13.1 run?

I remember reading that the technique for good 1/4 times with mods was to shift long before redline in 3rd. Oh yeah, 13.1 is a nice time.

Default Is it possible that the added momentum that test pipes provide...

allow the car to coast to a higher speed once the clutch is disengaged???
