What If.
Now listen to this. What if I were to go to germany and get the parts of the larger nav with the screen in the dash and such.
Can anyone tell me how this could work? Just a thought.

I think the real question is software.
Sure, the NavPlus hardware might plug right in and work. But unless you have nav data for the U.S. that's compatible with the NavPlus, there's no real reason to go through the trouble. There's no real reason to think that the standard nav and the NavPlus use the same CD-ROMs, though I guess it's possible. But it would seem to me that the NavPlus system uses/displays much more data than regular nav, hence my suspicion that they don't use the same data discs. And since the unit isn't sold or marketed in North America, it would be amazing if NavPlus-compatible data discs were manufactured.
I hope I'm wrong, because it would be a sweet upgrade.
