Wheel dilemma... I think I want to sell my Sportecs <longish>
For those of you who don't know, I bought a set of 19" Anthracite Sportec Mono 10's off a fellow AWer to replace the 18" RS4 reps that I had bent last summer. The seller swore that the wheels were straight and that the brand new never used tires on them were there because he didn't like the ones that came on the wheels. Yeah right... Long story short the wheels vibrated from minute one and it turns out that all four wheels are "egg" shaped. My guess is that he clobbered the wheels and blew out the original tires, found that they were bent when he mounted the new Falken's, and offloaded them on a poor unsuspecting bastard like me. Wonderful... Buyer beware I suppose. I wonder if he's ever heard of Kharma?
Too bad they look so good on the car:

Any way, I'm thinking of a few possibilities here:
1.) Sell them as is with the disclaimer that they are bent
2.) Fix them (if possible, I hear egg shaped is not easy to fix) and then sell them as "fixed"
3.) Sell them singly as spares either as is or fixed for other people that may have clobbered one of their 19" Sportecs?
Basically I want to salvage as much cash out of this unfortunate situation as possible, and I'm too honest to screw anyone over like I was. I think I can possibly get more cash out of the wheels if I sell separately, but I also don't want to get stuck with say 3 wheels that no one wants. Realistically, how much could I fetch for each cosmetically excellent but bent rim as is? I'm thinking it will be close to $200/rim to fix them right which is almost not worth it.
FWIW, I had my RS4 reps "fixed" by Wheels of America and they did a HORRIBLE job... TWICE!!! Not only that, but ALL FOUR tires no longer hold air for more than a day. As far as I'm concerned they stole $600 from me to "fix" my wheels. I would NOT recommend these hack artists. I'll be posting a full write up of my horrible experience soon. Look out for it.
On a more positive note I have my eyes on a set of 19" Neuspeed RS10s with black centers.

Thoughts? I like these a lot, but I can't justify spending more money on wheels until I get rid of a few sets, haha!

Sorry to hear about the wheels, being honest is definately the best bet...
and from my experience, good things always happen to good people. I think you will find someone interested in buying the sportecs...maybe someone with mucho wheel knowledge? I sneeked a peek at the neuspeeds and wOw, those are nice
good luck which ever way you choose to go

That really sucks. I had a similar situation but luckily the seller was local and I "convinced" him
to take the wheels back and give me my money.
Perhaps you could persuade the seller to refund some portion of the money based on the condition so that you can offset the repair costs.

Say it ain't so!! Ontop of everything else, they don't hold air? Those guys suck big!
I'm really sorry you had to go through that with Wheels America.. It's seems you were not meant to have a good experience, with any part of the wheel project!
FWIW, I like the RS10's. The lip isn't what I envisioned when you told me about it. And the matte black is excellent.
Now if you could just find a way out of two sets of wheels....
