When people ask you how much HP your car has, do you tell them whp or bhp?
I feel like it's more impressive to tell them bhp because that is what the majority of people here in the media on commercials etc... what do you think? I feel like I'm not doing the car justice when I tell them wheel horsepower. In other words... they relate my 400 wheel horsepower car to the 400 horsepower they hear from a certain car on TV (which is really bhp)...

Non car people BHP's. Car people whps.......Real car people trapspeeds and ets!

I think thats right. Btw tony, do you ever use NGK BKR8's? instead of NGK BRKR 7e 11?
|
An inflated crank horsepower figure in order to stroke my ego. Srsly.
|
My snobby answer usually involves explaining how torque and the torque curve are more important.

Your car looks like pure sex so it doesn't matter. Haha but on a serious note.
When I am asked I give them both. I give the crank hp and then translate for them how much of it gets put to the wheels. And as santorinNC said, I say that the sheer foot-to-ass AWD torque is what makes my car fast. I enjoy comparing torque numbers with other people because chances are they will not have torque numbers like the S4.

I've always said "dunno but it looks great huh?"
seriously though, they either will be in disbelief, cannot comprehend, not impressed, want you to prove it to them or think you're full of crap.

Yup, horsepower sells cars, torque wins races.
|
TQ and HP can be derived from each other. I like to think of it as ave HP over RPM power band as..
being most important. This is basically ave acceleration over RPM range, which is what wins races...

My standard response is, "More than you can afford, pal!"
