when you start up the car, is the A/C compressor shut off.........
i know its bad in some cars to start up the engine with the A/C ON b/c it puts extra strain on the compressor, leading to problems in the future. BUT, i know some of the newer vehicles have a bypass system that "shuts off" the compressor to prevent damage during start-up.
Does the S4 have this feature?
I want to know b/c I'm used to just leaving it on all of the time, and never bother shutting it off.
ALSO, some cars also have a "shut off" system for the compressor during Wide-Open-Throttle to prevent damage to the compressor during all of the extra surge of power during WOT. (this should also provide more power since the compressor isn't draining any of the engine's energy.)
Does the S4 have this feature also???
TIA
i'm asking these questions b/c my brother has an acura tl type s and he was told that his car has both features. actually, with the A/C ON while the car is at WOT, you can actually feel the air from the A/C warm up and feel a little muggy, just like when you press the A/C off but leave the air running.

don't worry, unloader relays disengage electrical loads when cranking[nopower to accessories].car also has wot reconition

Re: dpd...do you mean that the compressor is disengaged at WOT, preventing damage/improving power?
at wot the a/c compressor clutch is cut off by the ecm ungrounding the a/c clutch relay.this is to give you max power and by unlocking the compressor clutch you gain horsepower because it's one less thing robbing horsepower

Re: I remember reading that it does that only for the first ~30 seconds of wot, FYI
has to do with throttle angle,if you keep your foot in it,the compressor will stay off until you lift your foot up
