Default Where is the Tiptronic computer?

I'm considering throwing the Garrett chips (both ECU and Tiptronic) in my S4. I want to be able to switch back and forth between the stock setup and the chipped setup when I need to, so I'll be getting an extra ECU and having it chipped.

However, this situation brings up other questions: Where does the Tiptronic chip go? And when I want to swap back to the standard Tiptronic chip, how do I do it? I know with the ECU chip I can just swap out ECU boards relatively easily. What extra parts am I going to need to buy to make the Tip chip also easily swappable?

Thanks for helping a chip virgin.
-Andrew

Default It's under the carpet in the passeger floorboard.

It's not very easy to get to and I would not recommend swapping it very often.

Default But if I don't swap it, my [non chip-friendly] dealer is gonna notice, right?

Default Mike, did you take any pictures during installation?

The morons who were supposed to be the reps for GIAC here didn't have the tip chip, didn't have the software for the S4, were working out of daddy's garage (2 locations on the website, must have been each guy's parents houses) and drove Civic Si's. Wasted half the day driving down there and back with nothing to show for it except a wrench dropped on my fender (no scratch fortunately).

Gotta do it myself obviously. Any advice about the PITA tip chip install appreciated.

Default Not with VAG, but surely they'll notice as soon as they drive it (more)

I'm tempted just to take the risk anyway. Swap out the ECU every time I go in, but leave the Tip chip installed.

The one question I still haven't found an answer to is what specific part does the Tip chip go on? Is it worth it to buy an extra so my car isn't out of commission while I send it off (no local GIAC dealer in Houston!)?
-Andrew

Default TIP chip needs to be soldered in, there is no room for socket.
