whoever said ignorance was bliss was NOT trying to put together an S4...
Enlighten me please..
what is a UUC shifter, and what performance benefits does it give ?
also, ball park costs please.
in my analized (no.. not analyzed) research on S4's.. silver may indeed
be a popular colour, but definitely not as high maintenance as the darker
colours. Can I hear from a few of you Imola's and Nogaro's as far as
cleanliness maintenance ?
Thanks
Earnie.
P.S. In Canuckland, an 01 S4 ordered today will arrive in early October.

paint care
Don't get Santorin Blue if don't want to spend too much time on keeping it clean. It is impossible to keep clean all the time unless you have a garage at work and home.

the UUC shifter is the most popular (and i think only) short shifter kit for the Audi S4. It makes it so that you can shift faster by shortening the throw, and improves shifter feel...etc.
-Cheng-

Imola is cake to take care of, and...
since the color has the same tonalities (not hue), as silver, the dirt is invisible. The yellow just gets deeper in color because of the dirt.
However, if you don't like bees or alergic to them, the color is THE way to go.
Besides, it's faster.

UUC makes a short throw shifter that is WAY better in overall shifter feel and performance than the stock unit. Cost $279 (US). Pain to install, but well worth it. With regards to color, my Nogaro hides dirt pretty well. The problem with Silver is that bugs and those little black tar flecks show up easily. While it may not affect the look of your car from a distance, it will close up.

No problem with Nogaro....(more)
...with any color you do get some maintenence with dirt that is opposite in color. Remember those "champagne" color cars are popular because they are the color of dirt and so don't show it. So, the more a car's color contrasts with the tan/champagne color the more likely it will need more cleaning.
It also depends on the are in which you live. In parts of the northeast and northwest some of the bright colors like Imola and Nogaro can be a pain because of the regular presence of fresh tar and pitch on the roads, and not only does it show up like a beacon but it's a pain to get off. In parts of the southwest the roads aren't patched so much and/or there's mnore concrete used, and darker colors are a real pain due to the dust.
Imola is also good because it attracts the police's attention from the Nogaro that's passing it :-)
Tony
