Saw a buddy's M3 today. He just had a few rock chips; not all the little "sandblasted" specs I have all over the front of my S4. Is BMW paint harder than Audi's? Or does he drive like an old lady?

Maybe because our hood slopes down more? <shrugs>

Cause BMW uses better paint and maybe he got the hood repainted. :-P

Default Nope, original paint. I asked.

But he did say that he doesn't drive it in snow. (wonder why :-))With all the salt and cinders we use in PA, that might explain some of it, but not all. Must be better paint.

Default Yeah, Audi paint is soft.. But man, have you looked closely at a Jap car lately?

Maybe not all brands of Jap cars are bad, but my experience with Mitsu, Subby, and Nissan shows that Audi ain't that bad..

Default Hmm, my Nissan Max has great paint, much more resistent

to damage than the Audi and absolutely no orange-peel. The S4 has good paint, wouldn't call it great.

Worst paint I've seen recently was on a new black Merc E500. Actually had visible waves down both sides of the car. Not what you'd expect in a 70K car.

Default i disagree, my '92 300ZX w/ 92k miles has paint that seems to have held up much better than the S

but that is just w/ nissan,,,don't know about any of the other ricers. i am kinda a fan of the new rice technology dent resistant doors tho,,,wonder how that paint holds up

Default What year and color Maxima?

I had a black 99 with the worst paint imaginable.. Paint chips everywhere after about 1.5years of ownership but on my friends silverstone was in much better shape with more miles.. My 95 green pathfinder also had some pretty bad paint...
