Wife's car got fubared by a red light runner yesterday...went to the shop we had it towed to...
to get some pictures and remove personal belongings and directly in front of her car was the grill off and S4...I didn't see the Audi in the repair yard though (S4 content part 1).
Her car, 98 Acura TL, is totaled (she is okay...a bit sore, but okay).
The bummer is that we have to get a new car (we were hoping to put another 100k on the Acura). Right now we are looking at a 2001 BMW 330i w/ 58K miles on it. It is a fully loaded automatic (for the wife) w/ premium and sport package. The car is currently owned by a family member (my sister) and has not been abused. Thoughts on the car?
I know it is a bimmer so...flame suit on.
Fortunately she is okay and she didn't drive the S4 that day (S4 content part 2).

sorry to hear that man, in terms of the 330xi, i'm a big fan, quality is pretty good and it will be pretty reliable and fun to drive too, if your looking for pure reliability I would also look at a newer Subaru Legacy Limited, really impressive quality upgrade with the new body, doesn't have the prestige of the bmw, I agree but might be worth a look. I was just looking on alldata for the TSB's for the 330xi, nothing major to worry about from what I can see at a quick glance, best of luck to you, glad to hear your wife is ok. also, i'd take the tires off of the bimmer and put on some all seasons as the sport package on that cars comes with Z rated tires that don't last all that long.

My wife and I had a 02' 330i and loved it.
We have owned 5 Audis, 3 Porsches and my wife now drives a V8 VW Touareg. If it means anything, that 330 was her favorite car of them all.

We just sold our 2000 323iT w/ only 53k miles. Fantastic car and never had any trouble with it.
Unlike my Audis. :-/ The BMW drove great but was a bit underpowered for my tastes but my wife loved it and I love the syling of the E46 3 series. We needed a bigger car w/ the kid getting bigger. It had pretty much every option except for NAV.

I disagree. AWD in an Audi for sure, but I would stick with RWD in that BMW.
If you live in Cali anyway, why would you ever want an AWD? I live in Ohio, so AWD is a really nice feature for 4 months per year, but I love driving RWD cars. If snow were not an issue, I would still have my 996, and no I would not want a Carrera 4 either. Something uniquely satisfying about driving a RWD car. Keep in mind, I m currently driving my 5th Audi with quattro, so I am a fan, but still like RWD better.
