Winter beater suggestions - no I don't want snow tires
I am looking for some good suggestions for a decent winter car that costs around $5,000. I really don't want to drive my S4 in the winter just because of the salt and sand that is used on the roads. That stuff is hell on a car, and I can avoid it I would like to. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Rich

My fantasy beater
I've always wanted to own an old, beaten-up 4wd pickup truck, preferably with a snow plow blade on the front. The truck must have visible dents - you want the the other guy to KNOW that you don't care about your car!
With that said, however, the only reason I even own a quattro (and my S4 is #7) is because of its winter performance. I ski a lot, and the performance, safety and security of a quattro in the winter just can't be beat. I have a summer car - a Miata - and pretty much save the S4 for winter.
