Winter tire options
I thought I would help you guys out with the winter tire debate.
I have owned an M3 for the last 10 months and have read this debate over and over in the M3 boards.
Blizzaks- Great in snow/ice suck in dry.
Pirelli Asimmetrico- Good in snow and surprisingly good in dry (probably the best choice for a 4 wheel drive vehicle).
Michelin (whatever the name is)- step down from blizzaks in snow and step down from Perelli in dry. In the middle kinda.
Also- Buy your tires mounted on cheap rims from tire rack. The extra money you spend will be well worth it when you destroy a rim. M3 rims are 500+ a piece....S4 rims can't be much cheaper.
Test drove an S4. Liked it. Geared more toward luxury then the M3. The M3 is more raw with an edge in the handling side. S4 is really quite....different kinda of cars.
Toss the all season tires in the summer. Use Yokohama AVS Sports. They are cheap and some of the best handling tires in the dry and great in the wet. If you have to change tires anyway you might as well use one of the best in the summer.
There is a review of snow tires at www.tirerack.com.

Just installed Dunlop Winter Sport M2s
I live in Michigan-lots of snow. The stock Bridgestones on my S4 were absolutely treacherous on snow and ice. I just installed 4 Dunlop Winter Sport M2s on O.Z. wheels(tire size 205/50R17). They are good on snow and ice and still quite good on dry pavement although I plan to put the Bridgestone's back on in summer.
