Default wonder how a W8 (8-cylinder) is going to move a passat...cuz i'll have no passats...

in my rearview... nothing against them, really, but i think that it is a little strange that VW is putting a 280 hp engine into the passat....performance oriented? i dunno, but that still some hp there.....(of course, not enough to keep up with any committed accelerate to hell S4 driver )

Should be interesting since a Stage 1 Passat 1.8T can do 0-60 in around 7.0 seconds, stage 2 in about 6.75 seconds. The Passat Synchro (Quattro) with a 280 hp engine would be very interesting. I'm sure a chip upgrade and exhaust would get it to 300hp.

I agree with RJ, doubt you will see it in the US. Most of the good stuff never makes it here, except of course the S4!

Default Nope, the Passat Plus (as the VAG engineers call it), is coming to the States as an entré to…

… the W12 Volkswagen D1.

$75K for a VW the Kaiser thinks should sell in volumes double that of the $10,000 cheaper Audi A8. The man is quite mad.

It seems the good Doctor is convinced a $40K+ Passat will be just the ticket to warm Americans up to a concept of a $75,000 Volkswagen.

Will somebody please wake me up!<p>2000 Nogaro/Silver - S4
