Would the wrong model UUC shifter rub something under the car in 1st? I'm getting
a funny noise, not gears, that is definitely something rubbing, but only in first. The car is going back in for some work and I will have a better idea of what is wrong then. My model build date is 11/00 and the shifter is for 2/01 or newer. Comments? My stock shifter is completely straight, no bend at the end by the joint.

the small circlip might be the problem
if it's the wrong height (this changed in mid-2001)
it might let the lever, Bottom-out inside the shift box
you could measure the stock one and the UUC
without removing it
by eyeballing how far down from the top, each groove is
