Would you take your car to a place like Midas or Monro to change brake pads?

I really don't have the time to do it, and the dealer is booked, as well as the only import place I would trust around here.

For things like oil, tires, and brakes (which are very simple), I think...
that these shops are fine. Just be clear with the guy up front that the S4 is your baby and are very particular about how it's treated (hehe). Slide some tippage and you'll be fine.
I'm in your same situation - have no garage and live in a city so I don't have the space or tools to do more than VAG and pressure test. Also very busy...so paying someone else to do the mundane stuff is fine by me. I go to Jiffy Lube for oil; Big O' Tires for mount and balance; local shop for brakes and "tune up" stuff that I don't have time for. No probs so far.
One day I'll have a garage...one day...
