Default WRX or used S4

I know it's a cheap excuse but I may not be able to afford the upkeep on this used S4 I've mentioned. Is it really bad? On the other hand will the WRX hold up? When I owned the'98 M3 I began falling for the '00 S4 so this 'affair' is long lived. ANd now I can afford a used one but.....

Default its not as bad as everyone says, especially the '01 models

..no F hose, new turbo builds (although the value of this had been argued)

Its a factor of driving style and IMHO, heat and how its driven in the heat. I believe more failures happen in the heat than in cooler climates

The WRX is a nice car for $25K, but its still a $25,000 car. You get what you pay for. Not as solid, etc.

Now, if you're going w/ a WRX and say a second house, or a used S2K or a crotch rocket, by all means, the WRX will work just fine

Default i just sold my wrx for an s4...

and LOVE the S4. the wrx was a disappointment for me. it was a drteam car for years, then they bring over a redesigned pig or a car that doesnt handle at all like my old 2.5 RS. i even put on DMS coilovers, and that helped, but ultimatley was a band aid. i still would like to get a subaru eventually again, but it will be the old chassis with a new turbo motor in it. i just didnt like the new chassis, even at 150% stiffer than the old chassis. also, the interior rattles drove me nuts. it make a ton of noise on any road.

the S4 is a a great car. the build quality is MUCH better, and although the cost of repairs SEEMS more, it is just as expensive on the subaru, especially wheh modded.

anyway, shot me an email if you have questions.

Don't forget, most here are "spirited" drivers. Some are harder on equipment than others.

Default if you plan to modify your car heavily - WRX

-easier by a long shot to work on
-you can do the work yourself
-more cool stuff is available
-I'll prob get slaughtered for sayin this but it's more of a 'sporting' car than the S4, especially when modded
-parts are cheaper !

on the other hand if you need your luxury and are willing to sacrifice the above things...S4
