Default x-chip runs rich? Bad MAF could cause abnormal boost?

Does the x-chip run rich? I had an earlier post today about having low boost readings so I took it to my Audi mechanic.

He checked it out, hooked up his diag. tool, and found that I was running rich. Since my car was under warranty, he said I could probably get the MAF replaced free of charge.

He thought that a bad MAF could possibly cause the low boost levels. Any truth to this?

Default low boost usually means there is a leak in the system

all chips dump fuel like a ****.

you ain't got the air to back it up.

Default ummm, I think the Bosch -vs- Hitachi MAFs send opposite signals 0-5V & 5-0V

So a failing MAF on each of those might show Rich/Lean depending on MAF. I'm not certain, but I'd investigate it first.

But then again, if a failing MAF means that it's telling the car there is less air flowing then there actually is, then yes, it'll run lean. I just don't recall if both MAF's fail like that.

Default That is correct sir. When the Bosch fails, it usually reads low. When the Hitachi fails, it reads

high.

Default So it seems when they both fail, they both report lower voltages

With the Bosch, that corresponds to lower than actual readings = Lean.

With the Hitachi, that corresponds to higher than actual readings = Rich.

Default I wonder what the increments are per volt or mV for each MAF is?

If the two are the same, it may be possible to invert the signal and run a Hitachi in place of a Bosch!?!
I guess there is more to it that just inverting the signal not that I think about it.

Default

They aren't the same. The Hitachi is capable of reading higher.
