And you thought your Audi was underpowered...
Just back from a trip to China. Audis are quite popular there but with
different engines then we see here. For example, in the Beijing Airport
there is an A8 with a 2.8 on display. In a magazine I saw an ad for
the same in a LWB version. Saw lots of A6 1.8s on the road. No
A4s or S's though. I should add that by Chinese standards these
are quite powerful cars.

i think another reason for that is the fact that they really don't need that much power over there..
usually just stuck crawling in traffic.....hence the S190 mercedes i used to see there and all the other euro big sedans with the little motors..

Any country other then the US is concerned about Fuel Economy
that is why there are so many small car/engines in europe and most cars are manuals. They want/need to get the most out of every drop of gas as prices are somewhere in the realm of 1$/liter which is what most of us pay for race gas.
