Anyone ever replace a motor mount themselves?
Any hands-on types here that might have done motor mount replacements themselves? If so, any pointers? I'm seeing suggestions to do both although it appears some dealers were just doing the one failed side.

While I'm sure there are ways around everything AFAIK they had to remove at least the steering rack and subframe support to get them done and obviously support the engine while the mount is out. If you are comfortable with those and have the tools/equipment to do it then it should be straightforward. Oh and it needed an alignment afterwards since the steering and sub-frame were disrupted. And I'm not sure if there was any special module coding or calibration after replacement. And Audi tends to use a lot of single use bolts that I do not know which need to be replaced. Although it is mega expensive it does seem like a job best left to someone else. That's just my opinion. As I understand it the 3.0T motor mounts are easier to replace but that does not really help you.
Also my dealer said Audi no longer replaces them in pairs and only replaces the failed one, unless you are like me and ask them to do both anyway. When you're out of warranty they are glad to do anything you pay them for. ;(
FWIW they did offer slightly reduced labor costs to do the other side since the car was already under the knife.
