Audi S6 vs. Lexus GS F

lol, I was just watching TV and saw another Ad for Lexus, so I figured I take a quick look at the Lexus website and build & price a few of their vehicles. I was shocked when I saw that Lexus had a "Compare to Competitors" button while I was looking at the Lexus GS F. The tool made their own GS F look so bad up against the S6. The S6 was better than the GS F in almost every highlight point. One thing that's really annoying about the S6 is the underrated HP, I really wish Audi would publish an accurate HP (480+).

I like it when the insurance company believes the Audi published horse power ratings.

Oh? Why? Do insurance rates go up or something significantly with higher HP?

I just had a new Lexus GS loaner car while getting service on an old LS400 I have (it's the dog's car).

Absolutely horrible compared to my Audi. It's bland looking, boring, has absolutely no feel on the road. Lifeless. Soulless. Emotionless. It had a leaf blower for an engine. The Audio/Navigation interface is clunky and complicated to use. Controls are in weird locations. For example, if you have the cupholder door open you can't access a bunch of controls for the seats.

I honestly can't think of a single thing about that car which I liked.

Then again, the GS-F beat the S6 in a recent Motor Trend comparison... (rolleyes)

Is the 480+ HP for a stock 2016 S6 on 91 octane fuel? Is there a dyno of that? Thanks

Thanks for the link, it appears the higher hp is with 93 octane.

Octane helps, for sure.

I don't worry much about dyno numbers - 12.1-12.3 @ 112-115mph in the 1/4 mile tells the true tale of the HP.

I like the GSF

GS F is a good car in its own right, especially with it being its first gen. Audi does indeed have a better UI for stereo, car control, etc. Better acceleration due to quattro and lower end torque due to turbo charging. Yet Lexus seems to be the only Japanese car maker that constantly ranks with the Germans from what I've seen. Lexus really only recently got into make performance models. I mean the IS-F was their first model. Followed by the great LFA, followed by the RC-F and GS-F. Lexus doesn't have the years of experience of making performance models that the Germans do with their M/RS/AMG models or even just Audi S models. I really like the GS-F and think it can really be something special Lexus in years to come. From what I've read the handling is great due to it's differential and the ride is comfortable. HP is down when directly compared to M5/RS6/E63 yet I don't feel like it's supposed to directly compete with those cars. Lexus currently doesn't offer as much tech like the Germans do, but they are slowly getting there, just like they are slowly starting to build performance models. Next gen GSF/RCF are supposed to get new TT V8/V6 putting out around 550hp from what I've read. Sounds good strictly when talking numbers for mid-size performance sedan (we will have to see TQ #'s and handling). And I'm sure they will continue to improve and already good differential set up for handling. Audi/Lexus are my favorite brands and while I can admit Audi/Germans car makers best Lexus in terms of features they offer, Lexus will continue to hang in there and get better. This all just makes for a better world for car lovers to have more options to choose from and enjoy.
