Default Audi to utilize ATT for 2016 cars with LTE

This was just posted on AZ.

AT&T and Audi to Wirelessly Connect all 2016 Model Year Vehicles | AT&T

If you have a mobile share data plan at ATT you will be able to connect your Audi to this data plan. Sweet.

Thank you to 07S6 for the share.

AT&T plus LTE would be great to have. Sadly, my 2013 is stuck with T-Mobile and its various network re-branders. The only thing I really use the service for is Google destination searches - 99% of the time I don't even turn on navigation or Google Earth, preferring to use Waze on a dash-mounted iPhone instead.

Someone posted a letter from Audi stating that they'd be refitting 2012 & 2013 6/7 cars starting soon with what is likely the same cellular radio as the 2014 & 2015 models. If that applies to everyone then while you wouldn't have LTE, you could at least switch to AT&T's 3G.

Any word on what a data plan will run from a cost standpoint?

For AT&T? It would be $10 to add it to a Mobile Share plan.

1GB comes to mind.

Seriously though, it's not much if you're using it for more than email or occasional web browsing. That's a couple half-hour TV episodes in HD on Netflix or 7 hours of Spotify at the highest quality.

So if you've already go 4G LTE on your phone, can you just use your phone as a mobile hotspot for your Audi? I'm on Verizon and for $15 a month I can add 2 gigs of data per month.

This is what I do. The 3G is useless except for adding Nav destinations from the MMI app.
