Today I got the message that my left rear brake/blinker failed and needs replacement. The left blinker flashes very quickly and the message appears on the dash. Checking the lights when applying brakes shows the inner left ear, lower set of LED's is out. So I figure I'm off to look for a replacement online.

Here's where t gets interesting.

When I clock the fob to lock the car ALL the LED's flash as they should. So the lights all work.

They don't all work when applying the brakes/blinkers.

Interestingly I just rolled 36k miles and I'm out of warranty. The car doesn't get flashed at the dealer because a previous owner (here on the forum) put an APR tune in.

Any chance this is some small obscure code in the programming to trick owners into visiting the dealer after so many miles? Maybe it's far less sinister but I can't imagine why it will work on one condition and not on another.

Ideas?

I'm very interested in others thoughts on this too. I have also had the left brake light warning on my car right around the same time as my warranty expired.
Now I have another on for my right/rear outer light. The bottom light one that wraps around in your picture.
