I started using the Sonax wheel cleaner last year and i have to say it works exceptionally well. My wheels are plastidipped and I have no problems. If you use a pressure washer to remove it after it sits for a little bit there is actually no brushing needed. If you watch some of the detailing sites you can get the 5L container for a decent price plus a discount when they run their specials. The stuff is pretty stinky though so be careful where you store it. I had it in my basement for a bit and moved it to my garage due to the smell.

I'm just afraid some of the chemical cleaners will eat the finish off the wheel (aftermarket) -- anyone know that they're completely safe?

Also, for all the florida people... I get more pollen on my car each day than I do brake dust. Here's a picture of the car after it was washed / waxed, just sitting in the parking lot for an hour:

I put OptiCoat Pro on my wheels when we did the rest of my car, so I'm not too concerned about this. But I also don't have expensive aftermarket wheels.

Maybe call the Sonax people?

Dude.... the pollen started getting really bad this past Sunday. I played golf, and have been an allergic wreck ever since. Worst allergies I've had in years. Seeing the allergy doc on Monday for the first time since maybe 2005?

Sonax should be safe to use. I've used it on BBS CH-Rs, BBS LMs, HREs, stock wheels, etc. without any issues. Just follow the instructions and make sure you rinse it off well.
