As you discovered, I trusted Hartmann's website to confirm fit.

I just have to make sure that whoever puts the tires on is well aware not to put weights in the wrong place.

Agreed! I made sure to discuss it with the tire shop beforehand. They put some weights on the inside of the wheel as well. It worked out just fine. Just have to remember to have the same conversation when you put new tires on the rim after a year or two...

Default Even the 19" OEM stock

The stock wheels also need the weights right up against the spokes. I heard a clicking when I had my winter tires mounted on the factory wheels and had to return to the shop for re-balancing and new weight placement. I don't imagine there is any real damage because the (non-lead) weights are softer than the brake calipers. I bent two wheels (and destroyed one tire) on potholes this winter and imagine it would have been worse if I had ordered 20" wheels. I'm no too unhappy because I bought the 5-year wheel warranty - covers cosmetic and structural damage to wheels and tires. I think I may get my $1500 back in a couple of years!
