Default Hood won't shut - 2013 S6

So this morning, I started my car and the "check coolant" light came on. I pop the hood, fill up my coolant reservoir, go to close my hood and it won't shut. Just kinda 'bounces' off the car and won't latch. I looked and didn't see anything weird with the two small latches on the sides of the car or anything that is in it's way.

Thoughts? Thanks.

Sounds like the cable going to the junction box needs lubrication. There's one cable from the cabin to the junction box. There are three cables out of the box to the three latches. I was reading about a similar problem with the A8's a while ago. They had a DIY for adding a hood release in the wheel well when the cable breaks.

Thanks. I just squirted some WD40 on the two latches and for some reason it worked. I'm getting new rear brakes tomorrow and will have my tech look at them. Thanks!

I took a look at my A7 hood latches. There are two latches, one on each side. The center hook is stationary. The junction box is on the engine side of the center hook.

WD40 is a penetrating oil but not known for long-lasting lubrication. Have the tech lubricate both latches. Thanks for the heads up. I'll lubricate my hood latches before it becomes a problem.

Same issue, same fix. I had my wife toggle the hood release lever and I observed both latches were swiveling up in slow-mo...wd-40 spritzes on the springs had them both snapping up quickly, and hood latched with letting go from around 1 foot up like it should, 1st try. Followed up with a few drops of oil on them.
