Default new '17 S6

Tomorrow I am picking up my new '17 S6. I am trading a '12 A7 that has been a very car for us. Before the A7, we had S4's and my wife wants to get back into an S. Love the v8 exhaust.
Anything I should watch out for?

In a brand new car? No, not really.

Things like engine mounts can be a problem in cars that are a bit older - not sure if the part has been revised over time. If not it'll be something to keep an eye on before the warranty expires.

Just checked and there has been no part supersession (still 4H0199255T (LHS) and 4H0199256T (RHS)) so therefore probably something to watch for pre the expiration of the new vehicle warranty.

What are the signs to look out for a bad engine mount?

Excessive engine vibrations. Will also usually show up in a diagnostic check as a leaky mount will drop its hydraulic fluid on the electrical connector shorting it out.

This platform is in its 6th year of production.. I would expect that all of the known issues have been ironed out.

I just got home from my drive from Lodi,Ca. to South Lake Tahoe and back via Hwy 88. The turbo V8 is a wonderful engine, especially at higher altitude ( up to 8500 ft. ). I have the radio dialed and love Apple Carplay ( my second car with Carplay ).
The next step in my learning curve is figuring out all the "telematics". I am not sure I am going to like some of them.
As far as just driving the car, I can't say enough about how great this car handles .

I've just got mine delivered last Fri as this is absolutely a beast to drive, especially the exhaust roars even in comfort mode.

Did you get extended warranty? Dealer here in Nor Cal charges for $2000+ for 2 yrs and $4000+ for 4 yrs and I skipped that.. Hopefully it is not a mistake if I keep the car past standard 4 yrs/50K miles warranty.

I didn't get the extended warranty. We leased it. It's my wife's daily driver and she drives less than 10,000 miles/yr. I buy my cars and put a lot of miles on them, 15,000+ miles/yr and leasing doesn't work for me.
Anyway, we're extremely pleased with the new S6 which happens to be our sixth Audi. The car reminds me of our '05 S4 sedan but on steroids.

How are you enjoying your S6? I just read your post and thought I could have written almost exactly the same! Traded a '12 A7 (3.0 V6 TFSI) a couple of weeks back, have had S4s in the past. It was the V8 that swung it. I do relatively little mileage so fuel is not an issue but it just sounds great! Missing a few features I had on the A7, but didn't want to do a factory order as the current build (from the UK anyway) only has a black headliner - something I detest. Fortunately found one Audi UK had pre-registered back in March and only 18 miles on the clock, so effectively brand new but a third off the price
Only annoying thing is the Audi pointless "feature" of increasing the volume from zero (=mute) on start up to 3. On the A7 it was easily fixed via the Green Menu - not so now
