New 1st time Audi Buyer
 

Hello all,

I have always loved Audis and am finally at a point in my life where I can justify owning one.

I am looking at buying a used one and the S6 is the only model I can find myself wanting. I am just looking for any feedback on what years to stay away from or go after. I currently have my sights on a 2017 S6 Prestige with 90k miles and one owner.

I am curious if anyone has feedback on what major repairs or work I am looking at in the next year if i go after this and put 10k in miles on it.

Hello and Welcome. As a long time Audi owner, and recent 2017 S6 buyer, I just want to say that parts and labor for a 6 year old $70-80K car with 90k miles are the same price as a new $70-80K car (ie not cheap). I have a leaking rear shock/strut. Dealer quoted me $4k to replace both rears and another ~$2400 for an 80k service. I bought OEM rear struts myself ON SALE and they were still $900each (normally $1300ea). I just mean that even if you get the car cheap, it's not cheap to maintain. Make sure it has a good service history and have it thoroughly checked out before you buy. Make sure the oil screen recall was performed. Aside from those comments, I've only owned mine a few months and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! Was a great upgrade from a B8 S4. Good luck.

Thanks for the info! yes I am aware it will be expensive upkeep and that's part of the deal. Hopefully its not a lemon and the service history has a great looking record on this one.

I am excited once I get settled into this thing to start exploring performance mods. Curious what people do to these vehicles at this mileage as well.

I bought a used 2017 S6 2 years ago and love it. A great road trip car and a great engine but not a sports car. Maintenance is expensive - I was quoted 4k for the front brakes (pads and rotors) and 2k for the rear. Am now looking at flashing the ecu to get more power (not needed but nice to have :)

Rock on. yea I pulled the trigger and bought it! i understand the high $$$ repairs. this thing goes and you dont realize it until you look at the MPH. I should mention I have Trx so seeing the difference in HP and weight in these vehicles is satisfying. cant wait to learn more from these forums as I build this thing. next is a good radar and hopefully a blendmount in the mirror if i can learn the wiring :)
