OEM manufacturer for our spark plugs

Anybody know the company and model number of our spark plugs? C7 S6

This is the part number 06K-905-601-M listed on my recent 35k service.
I believe some have said they are NGK.

Odd. ECS tuning lists this as "DOES NOT FIT" C7 S6. They could be wrong, but it does appear NGK is the manufacturer. Denso also makes an Iridium plug for our cars, not sure how it compares but they are OEM for Toyota so I would imagine the quality is very good.

Wonder why a part like a spark plug has been revised so many times. Outside of materials, gap, and specs that must be met due to the specific vehicle application there usually isn't a lot of value in revising the part. Wonder if they were prematurely failing or something.

For what it’s worth audipartsusa also lists the original spark plug part number for the C7 S6 as 079-905-626-M, which they have marked as discontinued. They do not show a replacement part, so something in the information chain from Audi is amiss.

How exact do the specs need to be for a spark plug anyways? I am not a mechanic but I would imagine a few basic factors come into play such as heat tolerance, longevity, etc; however, if it is gapped to spec and produces a spark aren’t they all created equal at that point?

Update: 06K905601M is clearly the newest part, but it's officially supported fitment is still a bit confusing. My car is still under warranty so I want to be sure that the correct part gets installed.

I'll get to the bottom of this at some point. Time to call the dealer. I enjoy doing SOME of the maintenance on my car as a hobby. Jobs where I am unlikely to perform up to dealer standards get done at an indy that I have or an audi dealer. This is totally a job that those of us with a passion for cars should be able to take care of ourselves.

My local dealer clarified.... many things.

The Facts (based on parts manager at local Audi dealer):
- By VIN the correct plug is 079905626G.
- 079905626G has been superseded by 06K905601M for all C7 S6 model years.
- Dealers are not informed by Audi on why a part is superseded unless it's part of a TSB, which this is not.
- By rule, Audi techs install the latest part number regardless of why a part might have been superseded. This could vary by dealer.
- Most importantly, the original part 079905626G is manufactured by BERU and the part that superseded it is made by NGK. So in this case it's a complete manufacturer and part change.

TLDR;
For these reasons (and several posts on Porche forums that indicate problems with Beru plugs) I would recommend that everybody purchase the newer part made by NGK.

BTW: I'd recommend ordering from Valenti Audi since it's the best price I have seen and the part is coming from a real Audi dealer ($13.18/plug which is $4.20/plug less than ECS Tuning)
