pondering buying a C7.....question....
so my C6 is apparently totaled after an accident a month ago, still haggling with insurance about it, so if indeed it is, i guess i'm looking for a new car (unless i deal with buying it back, salvaged title, fixing it, etc.) - so just wondering, for those that have gone from the C6 to C7, what are your experiences with maintenance/issues? i've been reading some nightmare stories about the C7 (as i did with the C6 when i bought that) but i never really had any major issues with mine, i did just dump $9k into it in april (carbon clean, brakes, injectors, etc. etc. - so i'm a little pissed about that as that's down the toilet)...anyway, i've found a gorgeous estoril blue 2013 with 72k miles, and according to the carfax it had the turbo(s) repaired/replaced just a few thousand miles ago (it wasn't any more specific than that, maybe i can contact the dealer where it was done and find out), it's fully loaded B&O and appears to have every other package, priced at $32,400 - i am totally torn, i hate to go check it out as i know i'll want it, but i also love the V10, plus i'm not looking forward to a new loan as i just had a year left on this one.....arghh!!
also, couple other things - can you run 18" wheels on it? the above car comes with 20's, but i'll want to put snows on in winter, so i was going to swap out the wheels with my old set of A6 wheels (summer wheels are on now, so i'd have to swap winter tires from other wheels onto these wheels as they have the newer hub size, but with 57.1 hub adapter rings whereas the winter wheels are the old stock wheels, complicated i know), so that'd save me a fortune....the tires are 245/40/18, so maybe too much of a diameter difference from stock? if so, what all would that affect besides speedometer reading?
secondly, brakes - i thought my C6 rotors were huge (15.2") and expensive, but then the C7 rotors said hold my beer! they're even bigger and way more expensive - what's a full brake job running on these? looks like around $1500 or so just in parts. only asking as the carfax on the above lists the last brake work done around 27k miles ago, they were "checked" about 6k mles ago - so that could be a major item right off the bat.

The smallest wheel you can fit over the C7 brakes is 19".
For brakes you can find decent prices online if you are a DIY type of guy.
Front pair OE rotors $550-650
Rear pair OE rotors $460
Front pads. OE $285 (Advance Auto $36..that's right $36..not a typo)
Front pads. OE $127 (Advance Auto $49)
Front or rear Sensor OE $46 each (Any generic replacement $4-$15)
Front vibration damper pads. OE Brembo only... $250 (best price I could find online at the time I did mine was FCP Euro $160 but it looks like they are $225 now and audiusaparts is $190) A lot of people re-use them and adhere them back on. I'm not exactly sure of the details of what adhesive they use to stick them back on.
I think I was at around $800 to do just the fronts. As a data point I did the fronts at 33k miles just to get rid of the horrid black dust. They probably could have gone a bit longer.

not really a diy guy, but actually, with the price of some of these wear parts, getting them at fcp is a great idea especially with their free replacements - they have the fronts for $300/ea
