S6 >>> 19 inch rims?
NYC-area potholes are costing me around 4 x 20 inch tires a year. On Monday I had 4 x 20 inch Pilot Sports from Tirerack installed and by Tuesday night yet another bubble was there.
I've asked Tirerack if another 20-inch profile would help; but the only real tire happiness I see around is among other models or brands with 19 or 18 inch rims.
Has anyone switched their S6?

19s are the smallest wheels that will fit over the front brakes, and even then offset is critical. I use 19" OEM wheels for my winter tires and you can barely put a folded piece of paper between the caliper and the wheel barrel. The extra sidewall height will definitely increase your resistance to impact damage, plus smooth out the ride even more.

Excellent! Really a dealer job then. Let me please post Tirerack advice when they get back which I guess will be the same. May I ask which 19" OEM rims? My 20" now are the 58920, to my eye very nice.
(If you plan to visit, there's a sort of arms race going on here. Potholes are bigger and "better" but at the same time a wave of new surfacing in many jurisdictions is going on. It was only because I was diverted Tuesday that I lost the tire at all. However we have some jurisdictions with apparently no funding and some of their highways are a very big deal.)

Same potholes?
I drive in the same area as you with 19" year round, summer tires and winter tires. I've lost about one tire per year and 2 wheels to potholes. So far no damage to my Michelin Arctic Alpin 4 winter tires. The main reason I use 19" is the better ride.Unless you track the car, the difference in handling between 19" and 20" is negligible. 19" inch wheels lack cool factor but in my book straight wheels trump cool.
