Default S6 Buying Questions

I have owned an A4, an S4, and SQ5...

Due to a strange mental blankspot, I leased a BMW X5 5.0 last year. The lease is up March of 2018. The X5 is fine, but I really miss Audi.

I drove a 2017 S6 at the dealer yesterday and fell in love. I would really like to do European delivery.

Here are my questions:

1. Is the next A6/S6 platform change scheduled for 2018?
2. Will there be a new S6 platform in March of 2018?
3. Before the new platform change, will the S6 have new virtual cockpit that is similar to the Q7?
4. If I want the current platform version of the S6, will there be 2017s for sale in March of 2018.

I know all of this is looking into the future and there may not be answers, but only speculation. I would be happy to hear thoughts that anyone has. Thank you in advance!

1. Not likely 2018 as the resent facelift started with the 2016 model year. The major change will likely be for the 2019 model year.
2. Probably not.
3. No.
4. No...i assume you are talking new then the answer would be no...2018's for sale in march of 2018.

The next makeover will likely have a V6 and virtual cockpit. Possibly the ZF 8 speed instead of DSG.

Very helpful redrocker-

Since you own a 2016 S6- how do you like it? Have you tuned it?

What are your thoughts about Audi putting a V6 in it for the next platform?

1. Yes, most likely reveal early-mid next year and will be available end of 2017/early 2018. For US, the A6 will be available as MY18 or MY19. Looking at past releases, the S6 will follow a year later (so MY19 at earliest or MY20 latest).
2. Probably not yet, see above.
3. No
4. Maybe

I went through the same and recently got a leftover 16 lease because I figured by the time it's done we'all definitely have next gen S6/M5 - AMG E may even be on its refresh by then.

Also, the new one is likely to get a V6 and the V8 grumble rumble is just sooooo addictive I didn't want to pass up the opportunity of possibly owning the last gen V8 S6..

Again it's all speculation and we should probably know more about the C8 platform in the next 6-9 months...

I absolutely love this car. I came out of a B8 S4 that I drove for 150,000 miles. I needed something a bit bigger yet still wanted a sedan. I didn't want to go A8 as that car is a big too big and I wanted something more sporty.

The S6 was perfect.

I just got it tuned...APR stage 1 with dongle 2 weeks ago. I have had it on a road trip from STL to KC and I got about 1 MPG more than usual but the power is addicting. The car really hauls *** now.

Regarding the V6 in the C8...I am sure it will be an fantastic engine and it seems with every generation Audi kicks it up a notch on performance, refinement and technology. I am sure it will be an amazing car. It will likely be a 3.6 twin turbo borrowed from Porsche but tuned by Audi. If Nissan can get 600 HP from their 3.8 then I am sure Audi can get 450-500 HP from their 3.6 twin turbo. If they can get the torque number in the 450-475 range then this engine would be pretty sweet. Yet it would never have the sounds of the 4.0 TFSI.

My 16 S6 is a giggle machine.

You get in and drive and all you can do is giggle.

its that good.

Im coming from a B7 S4 - manual 6 sp so getting used to the auto is a bit of a difference - my first automatic car - but there are inbuilt cures for that.

Trust me, you 'll lov it if you get one.
