S6 Winter tire fitment for 2016

2 Attachment(s)
Hi - I could use some help with recommendations on a winter / tire package for my 2016 S6.

The two options below are recommended by an online retailer for 2015 S6's, but they don't guarantee the fitment for my 2016 which I assume is only because they haven't done the testing yet.

The two options have slightly different Bore and the Offset measurement. I'm not certain how the fitment measurement works, so was hoping someone could clue me in and maybe point out which wheel will fit the S6. It seems the biggest problem I've ready about is accommodating the large brake calipers.

For tires, I'm thinking the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4's may be a good choice and would fit the wheels I've included here. For the S6, Tirerack recommends 255 40R19. I have the 20" wheels that came with the black optics package, but will move down a bit for winter.

Any help on confirming whether this wheel size will work would be appreciated (or recommendations on other wheels would also be appreciated).

RTX RS Product Details (1st wheel):

PCD Offset Bore Size Finish

R142 Replika Product Details (2nd wheel):

I found the specs for the S6 OEM wheel fitment for both MY15 and MY16. There is no change for wheel size (8.5Jx19), bolt pattern (5x112), thd, and center bore (66.6) from 2015 to 2016.

Based on that, am I correct in assuming that: 1010TIRES.COMŽ ? Tires and Wheels Online Authority. should be able to guarantee wheel fitment for 2016 if they've already done this for 2015.

Tirerack provides the 2016 fitment for the S6, but most retailers only have the 2015 sizes for the S6. Unfortunately, I can't find the wheels I want on the Tirerack site.

Thanks.

Hi Brad

You are right...nothing has changed from the 2015 to 2016 model year. So that is helpful for all those websites out there that do not have 2016 model year updates.

I have heard of some aftermarket 19inch wheels that do not fit over the front calipers. Replicas should work.

I bought my 2016 with the 19's and my plan is to turn those into my winter setup. Then buy some aftermarket 20's for my summer setup.

My stock 19's have very little room between our massive front disk/calipers and the wheel...not a chance of cleaning the inside part of the wheel if it's mounted. There might be 1/2 inch of space. So just be careful on the size of the interior diameter of the 19 inch wheel you get and you should be ok.

Hope that helps.

Thanks. That's quite helpful.

Just got the following e-mail from 1010Tires today. It seems odd that if Audi shows fitment specs as identical between the two model years, that they couldn't guarantee fitment for MY2016 based on that alone.

My concern with ordering through an online Tire retailer without the fitment guarantee is that if something should go wrong, then there may be no capability of returning the wheels / tires and I'd be stuck trying to sell them.

My winter / summer set-up for wheels sounds similar to yours. However, I'm wondering if going with a 20" winter set (instead of 19") would allow for more room between the brake calipers and wheel. For instance, if we're talking about spacing of < 1/4" on a 19" set-up, there may be a good chance that the balancing weights could contact the calipers if they're not installed in the right place on the wheel.

Thanks.

From 1010Tire .............

Very sorry, but at this time there are no rims that we can "guarantee" will fit the 2016 Audi S6. We checked with several of our suppliers and they all gave us rims that "should fit" but they said they have not physically measured the vehicles so they could not provide a fit guarantee.

The 255/40R19 100V Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 is definitely a good choice for that vehicle.

It is for that reason that I've decided to stick with Tire Rack, with whom I've dealt for decades. If they say it fits, it fits, and they'll stand by that. They have some relatively inexpensive Oz etc, but I'll spend a little more and go old school with BBS SRs and Alpins. After you've blown 90 on a car, what's the point of quibbling over whether to spend 1000 or 1600 on wheels?

TireRack was my first choice as well. Unfortunately, I'm in Canada and the shipping charges and custom brokerage fees bring the TireRack price up significantly. However, they do have some awesome deals right now on Pilot Alpin PA4's (last year's model). I still pay more for the Michelin's and a set of wheels, but it's closer. I may still go TireRack if some of the other tire retailers can't figure out the S6 fitment for 2016.

S6 Winter tire fitment for 2016

I just bought the AG m580 wheel in 20x8.5 for my winter set up. Blizzaks LM-32 will be mounted.

The Audi 19s fit
VMR 19s do not
Avant Garde said only their M621 fits in a 19.

I would be prepared for most 19s to not fit. As a side note, I tried to buy the VMRs through the dealership and they were told they fit and then got them and they didn't.

19" wheel is superior for a winter tire

With snow tires its preferable to have a bit more sidewall. Audi supports this concept with their OEM winter setup, though they also narrow the tire. I compromised and choose Alpin PA4s in 255x40 19" since most winter driving is on dry roads and I wanted the minimal compromise in handling.

What brand of wheel did you go with in your 19" winter set-up?

Thanks.

I got a great deal on a set of 19" OEM wheels (and tires) from a guy who bought an S6 but decided he wanted larger and fancier wheels. As an ex-racer, I view wheels as very utilitarian so it was great for me. I know people who have been satisfied with the Hartman Audi semi-replica wheels and they do fit.
