Default Thinking about Stage 2 Tune - Nervous

First post.

Car: 2014 S6 Audi w/ Audi Exclusive interior. $26k miles at the moment. I bought it new.

Daily driver. I only push it when other cars want to step up, or I’m feeling crazy. Sounds like a Camry to me though and I want more out of it in every way.

Everything is stock with the exception of the removed back bass speaker that was replaced with a custom box, amp, and bass dial mounted under the steering wheel. Sounds awesome, but that’s another topic... *pic below

I’m looking to add the Unitronic Stage 2, which was recommended by my local dealer who also installs APR. I initially called about the APR tune, but he suggested this instead.

Instead of the 2.5 Unitronic downpipe, I decided to go with the APR Downpipe with the AWE Touring Exhaust without downpipes, obviously, but I’m so damn nervous. I came here to do research and see threads about turbos blowing for no reason. This is a LOT of money! Thank God my wife doesn’t read car forums. Ha.

Obviously, I am still under warranty, so am I being too risky? Should I scale it down a bit?

Appreciate the feedback, both good and bad. I get it.

Why not just go Stage 1 first? I did the APR stage 1 engine and trans tune and it's incredible.

If you're at all concerned about keeping your warranty intact, do not modify the powertrain in any way (cat back exhaust is generally okay, but even a simple intake mod can net you a TD1). If you can afford to pay out of pocket if something goes wrong then, by all means, make it even more fun.

I agree with stage one first, transformed my already fast car and calling that good. I am personally a little nervous about adding too much hp/torque to the dual clutch. I opted for the EPL stage 1, great reputation, service and results. My deciding factor, I can go back to factory from my laptop anytime so that put my warranty concerns to bed.

Just because you can go back to the stock tune does not mean that the TD1 code hs not been set.

Agreed, not impossible to detect but will not be the low lying fruit either. One can do the same with APR, just have to pay for it is all and if I was having issues that required dealer attention I would return to stock regardless of my tune unless I knew the dealer had me covered...

I went EPL stage 1 on my 2017 S6 at 300 miles. Stage 2 EPL was about 4 months later and stage 3 was at 1 year. Don't be "scurred".

Default Go with Stage 1 - 1st

At 1,000 miles I did the ecu upgrade with APR - result “wicked fast” and I mean FAST. The truth is there really isn’t any reason at all to spend the $$ on a Stage 2 and honestly how much faster do you really need the car to go. I’ve tracked my cars in the past on road courses and my 2018 S6 is NOT a car you take to the track - the main purpose is to kick someone’s *** off the line and/or passing at incredible speeds !!!
