Default Transmission malfunction

I got the transmission warning this weekend after a 2200 mile road trip on my 2016 with 43K miles. It went into safe mode and after sitting overnight it went away. Shifts seems a little rougher/different now. The car is the at the dealer now. Any ideas?

It appears to be a mechatronic problem. They are waiting for parts. Is this a big deal? Looks like other Audi/VW dual clutches have had similar issues in the past.

This was a common problem on the 2010-2012 B8 S4 DSG DL501, but was not expected in the 2016 DSG DL511: Details about the Seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox 0B5/S tronic (DL501))

Got the car back today. Indeed it was the mechatronic unit. Said it would be $4,500 out of warranty.

It has been a few days now with the new unit. Shifting is different but close to when the car was new. The 2->1 gear shift is jerky again. I expect that to improve as it did when new with more miles. The ACC is also not as smooth when coming to an abrupt stop. Hopefully this replaced unit lasts.

Thank you. I will be looking into getting the Audi extended warranty too.

After a 1000 miles since the mech unit was replaced the 2->1 shift is still very noticeable even in comfort mode. The jerking or lurching is annoying. I will mention it at the next service. Does anyone know if the mechatronic unit needs several thousand miles to break in before the shifts become smooth again?

Are you in S or D mode? The downshift in S-mode is definitely more noticeable (although better compared to early cars before a later software upgrade). Have they done a transmission adaptation? I can't think why they wouldn't have, when doing major tranny work, but it's worth asking about.
