Please explain. I know BMW plays "exhaust sound" through the car's audio system on the M5, but I don't believe that our cars are doing that. Porsche pipes in the actual exhaust sound into the cabin in both the Panamera and Cayenne nowadays. So what happens in the S6? I saw a video on youtube that had a GoPro cam attached to the back of an S6, and there was real exhaust sound.
Oh, it's there, and it's specifically covered in the self-study guide for the S6/S7. And its the source of ALL engine and exhaust sound inside the cabin. The insulation on these cars is SOO good, that very little sound from engine or exhaust transmit.
Why don't you have a friend rev up the engine while your standing next to the car. You will be disappointed that you don't remotely hear anything like the wonderful growl which is artificially inserted into the cabin :-) More like air pushing through a pipe, than V8 burble anyway.
I had my car software updated, and the ANC system had to be recalibrated (as happens with any computer reflash according to the self-study guide). During the ANC calibration, the sound-actuator system is disabled.
My car was so quiet during this period, I thought there was a problem! Needless to say, the sound came back like a switch was thrown to the on position. Amazing indeed.
Here is the thread I started regarding this mentioned above.

Thought I'd share that someone local to me cut out their mufflers. I haven't heard it in-person, but from a video they posted it doesn't sound too in-your-face and certainly isn't obnoxious.

Do you have a link the video by chance? I would love to hear what that sounds like.
