When checking oil in MMI: Please Reduce oil level
So I never got any warning lights on the dash but every time I went to check the oil level in the car, thats the notification that came up. I kept driving it and figured it would go away but it never did or changed.
This morning I finally went to service and dropped off my car to have them look at it. Turns out, the car had been PDI'd with almost a half quart too much oil.
I had felt the car was slightly sluggish compared to the other S6's I had driven. Also I wonder if it contributed to my less than stellar gas mileage.
I have 3k miles on the car now and will report back and see if this had anything to do with some of the hesitation I had been feeling in the car.
This is mostly just a heads up for anyone that has seen this in their MMI when checking the oil level.

I've seen the warning. IME it takes somewhat more than 1/2 qt to trigger that DIS warning.
FWIW, my A4 was overfilled at the port by nearly 1 qt (and I didn't get the DIS warning).

I don't think I have ever seen half a quart overfilled affect performance all that much. Also like previously stated usually it takes more than that to set off the please reduce oil warning

Extra slush to have to move through. Its easier to run through the surf when its at your ankles than shins...

Windage trays help with that and dual level oil pan which half a quart will not cause extra slosh to affect performance. If it was filled to the point where it was causing resistance to the crank maybe but it won't be the high up only being half a quart overfilled.

If it was that high your reduce oil level warning would've come on unless theres something wrong with it in which case maybe that's why it was missed in the first place. Usually there would be a fault for it if there was a problem.

Mine showed up one time and went away. Now it shows as normal in the MMI.

Well.
I have a 2018 Q5, and " redeuce oil level" came out 3 month(1800 miles mileage) after my service. The weather is hot here in Washington state. And this warning came out after a 30 minutes 50mph drive.
Then I went to a local Jefy Lube to ask them to drain some oil, they drained about 2qt (which the capacity I believe is 5.5 qt).
This is curious because if the oil was overfilled since last service, it suppose to be warning me immediately instead of came out 3 monthes or 1800 miles later. Therefore I am concerned there must be aother resource of the liquid.
DO I need to worry about it? Now I have drained the oil and change the new one, so far there are only 5 miles on this car. The dealership is 70 miles away from me.
