If you have questions about either, let me know. I've done both. Not too difficult to do if you have the right tools but can be a bit messy.

So I can certainly see the benefits of a system such as that. In any case, I don't think that s6 drivers buy their cars for the fuel economy or for the world saving saving efficiency so the worry about fuel seems odd. Either way, it'd be a nice feature to have in my opinion.
I appreciate the retraction. I was in no way attacking the OP directly, just the idea as a whole. I have heard this asked before, and as a brand specialist we have to explain why there arent these types of features on the cars. You have to give up something to get something.

No, I dont know anywhere I can go 130mph. However, these cars were designed from that point of view. These are the only cars that are designed for crash protection on the autobahn first, and then the US market(and others). I would much rather have a "drivers" car than a car that I can slide my foot underneath the rear to have the trunk automatically open.

Starting the car is a nicety, and you can easily go to Best Buy and have one of those professionals install it for you. I recommend it all the time to people if thats what they want. However, it will cost you another $300 just for a new key to be buried somewhere in the car.

Its also much easier to steal a car with a remote start type device. Whether aftermarket or from the factory. This is also another reason you dont see Audi on the list of most stolen cars.

No attacking to anyone and I apologize to the OP if he felt there was any. Theres just different reasons of why you buy cars. I hate that people want to be able to read texts and emails on the screens of their cars. I hate that automobile manufacturers want to cater to people who want that. As if people arent distracted enough when they drive.

I completely agree, distracted drivers annoy me to no end. I just feel that a small part of what brought me to the audi brand (totally secondary to the driving experience) was the fact that there was no stigma of turned up noses attached to the brand such as there often is with BMW and Mercedes. I have often referred to people who buy e-class and c-class cars that are non AMG as people who don't know what a good car should drive like (my sister being one of them). I suppose this is the sort of statement that makes me a snob. However, I frequently see digs at Chevys and toyotas on this forum and It rubs me the wrong way. I understand that our cars perform miles ahead of most. I just get edgy when disparaging remarks are made about non-luxury brands because I am aware that one day I won't be in my mid twenties with no kids and being a classical musician, money isn't always assured, I might wind up driving a ford escape or Camry. With that at least being a remote possibility I don't want to set myself up for a future inferiority complex ;-)

Nothing wrong with lesser luxury brands. No snobbery against them. They serve their purpose completely. I think Ford is making great cars these days and recommend them over the other American brands at the moment when someone asks my opinion. Just one persons opinion. Am I biased against the other "luxury" brands, of course I am.

Im sure people on the BMW and Mercedes forums are complaining that they dont have remote start on their cars as well.

All of that being said, my ultimate goal is to be in an S6. To me it's all the car I could ever need or want and who knows, perhaps when I am no longer adjunct faculty but tenure track, ill shoot down the hour from Philly and pop into your store and have you order me a phantom black S6.

There is a reason why I quit posting on this site. The uncalled for responses were ridiculous. (Go buy a Chevy, waste of gas, gimmick). I suppose your wasting gas by not driving a Prius. I live in Texas where it gets to 100+ degrees a day for 70 days straight. I wanted to understand what is wrong with cooling a car down inside before getting into a 120+ degree car for a small upgrade. It's just a question. Hyper, I don't respect your opinion. Tenspeed talks down to us with his obvious command of the car. Some of you are content to belittle us with your biased opinions with no room for debate. Peace out and good riddance. To my fellow folks who defending my question as legit, thank you.

Although I didn't participate in this thread, I do agree that the Audi cars should have a remote start feature. I do see how it would be desirable in the Texas heat as well as in the frigid north. In the winter, I always start the car and then tend to removing any snow if necessary before driving off.

I am sorry if you find my replies to be condescending.

Ed,

I can't speak for any others on here, but my intent was not to condescend or flame you for wanting this feature. Figured i would chime in with an opinion on the matter, no other intentions. A majority of the replies do not seem out of line for an internet forum.

Constructive arguments in car forums are rare... they usually devolve to name calling and other nasty childish behavior. AW has always been good and mostly positive in my opinion. I've been on here for about 10 years. In that time I have learned so much from people that stick their neck out as early adopters. They help the rest of us decide if and what mods we should apply to our vehicles. There is a vast Audi brain trust on here that we can all tap into for free...

This forum is a great place to share opinions, thoughts and gain knowledge or insight. Granted you at times have to wade through a huge amount of garbage to get meaningful data. Sorry to see you go, I have seen some of your posts and think you would provide a good addition to the S6 section. You have knowledge and opinions that you tend to back up with facts or data if applicable. We can use the spacer thread for example.... While I did not agree with all of your thoughts, I respected the way you brought valid items to the discussion for everyone interested to consider.

Happy Motoring,

Mike

I'm sure you weren't gearing your rebuttal toward me but for the record, my saying I have no need for it ever doesn't mean someone else doesn't have a legitimate position for it. I live in So Calif where we have even keel weather 90% of the year and only speak for myself relative to my climate.

Regarding forums - don't let colorful character posting get to you. There's room for all opinions here.

Yeah. Forums can be rough. I just got skewered on audizine for my first post because I took a little time to introduce myself. They asked me if I also liked long walks on the beach. Then they called me dumb for asking a question I had no idea was already answered. Hazing I suppose. Most people keep it courteous. Hyper and I have messages since our exchange here and I find him to be a nice guy. It is true however that some people will always feel the need to belittle. Don't leave on account of them. I would even say, stay on the account of the people willing to help and engage in fun banter. For me, that's the true purpose of audi world.
