Default Winter wheels for Audi A6 2.0 TDI Quattro facelift

Hello,

I have a set of tires from my old Audi car that i want to use for winter time on my Audi A6 2.0 TDI quattro (2016 production year) which dimmensions are 235/45/R17 (rims OZ Energy 8Jx17-
Energy - OZ Racing ). The 17" wheels accepted for this car are 225x55xR17 97Y, according to the car's documents.

My question is: are the rims suited for this car? Because if they are i should only buy new 225x55xR17 tires. If they are not i should buy a new set of wheels (tires and rims). How can i know for sure?

One other question i have is about the offset. What should the offset be?

Thank you very much for your answers!

Offset should be ET39, look here:
Audi - Wheels specs & Tire catalogue dimensions for all Audi models - Wheel-Size.com

To see what happens, use this calculator to see what happens when you use 235/45R17 instead of the specified 225/55R17:
Rim & Tire Size Calculator. Custom Offsets - Wheel-Size.com

First thing to do is find the ET on your OZ wheels off the old Audi. The ET should be stamped on the back of the wheel somewhere. Note 8J is a narrow wheel size for an A6, and the larger size wheels are also wider, and run a higher positive offset: ET45.

You have posted this in the S6 forum, and that model cannot use 17" wheels as the brakes are too large. You may want to repost in the C7 A6 sub-forum to see whether anyone has fitment issues with 17" wheels on an new A6. Audi certainly has them available, but then Audi will have ensured the design fits. The OZ probably will, as OZ is an OEM supplier for Audi, and the wheel you have seems to be an Audi specific fitment.

If the offset of your OZ is between ET30 and ET40, it should fit okay. Between ET40 and ET45, it will possibly be fine, but look a bit small and sunken into the wheel wells. Higher than ET45 would likely not clear brake parts, as well as looking bad. You could use spacers to bring the wheel out, but these are a compromise and can cause balance problems.

Make sure you are using the correct wheel (lug) bolts - all Audi OEM wheels use radius (ball) bolt seats, typically R13, whilst many aftermarket wheels use tapered (conical) bolt seats. Most OZ wheels use a 60degree taper, but if they have made the wheel specifically for Audi they may have used an R13 seat. Given an M14x1.5 bolt will thread up in the Audi hub regardless of the seat, you will only know the wrong type was used when your wheel comes loose and falls off

Thank you very much for your answer. I really didn't like the part about my wheels coming off. ) Regarding the bolts, i used these OZ Energy rims with an Audi A4 B7 2.0 TFSI quattro 2007 for about 7 years. They never came off. Hope i wasn' t just lucky...

Sounds like they are the right bolts for the wheel But OZ do make their Audi specific wheels with R13 bolt fitments.

B7 A4 wheels should fit okay, lower offset than C7 A6, but only a bit. Similar to putting a 5mm spacer on (but better than using a spacer).

Personal opinion, but I replace my winter tyres every 5 years even if the tread wear is ok. I find after 5 years, the compound becomes too hard for them to work as well at colder (below 0C) temps.
