A7 (2016 or 2015) or S7 (2014 or 2015)

Hello Everyone,

I know this question's been asked a bunch, but can't find this exact scenario.. I'm looking at several A7s and S7s to figure out what the best bang for my buck. And of course, what scratches that itch. I'm looking for something fun to drive, and just not sure which way to go. I drove a 2017 A7 Prestige and an A6 Prestige. I was smiling the whole time (first time I drove an Audi, it showed). I liked it much better than the BMWs, Merc, and Lexus options I had listed. Anyway, I'm trying to figure out what people recommend out there. I can get a 2014 S7 for about the same price I can get 2014-2015 A7s. I can get a pristine 2015-2016 (2017 A6 as well) A7 Prestige in the upper 50's-low 60's, basically about the same price as a 2015 S7.. I live in Ohio where the weather is nuts, and I have a kid that I need to have a car seat in the back. Thoughts, opinions, suggestions????

I bought the 7 over the 6 solely on looks. I had to have the S-line / Prestige for the same reason. I live in deer country so night vision was a plus. LED headlight were high tech so that was added to the mix. My wife had a high priority for the nougat interior. We sometimes get 5 months of snow in western NY so a car that took smaller wheels for snows was a plus. I keep cars for the long run and the A7 is easier and less expensive to work on. For me, the A7 was more practical.

It would have been nice to have the S7 with the Brembo brakes, sports differential, cylinder deactivation and perhaps massage seats. Most of the time I'm cruising around at near the speed limit and the A7 performs flawlessly. It is a beautiful vehicle and the best one that I've ever owned.

I agree. The 3.0T is a lovely, lovely, lovely engine. One of the best 3.0s around infact. But the 4.0TT is very fast. I drove an S6 and found it extremely hard to keep the car under illegal speeds. That's how easy it was to drive the S6 fast. My A7 is definitely more sane. The engine is smooth as silk. It can be fast when needed (but my racechipped A4 is faster). It also doesn't have the turbo lag of the S6. It is a very linear car.
BUT. If I were you, I'd probably buy the S7. Since you can mod the hell out of that car and have loads of fun on a track. Even stock, it is a fun car.

The power of the TT V8 is addictive. I also find that the adaptive air suspension of the S7 is much more comfortable that the steel spring suspension of the A7. The other difference will be the transmission; the S7 will have a 7 speed dual clutch while the A7 will have an 8 speed torque converter auto.
