Default Back seat climate controls and kids

My 2018 S7 (like all of them i guess) allows the back seat passengers to control the temp, airflow, etc. The problem is, if the driver want the system off, and the backseat passengers (in my case an 11 year old boy) want it on, the can turn the system on from the back. It not only turn on in the back, but also up front. So, if I want it off, and he wants it on ... it on it turns into a fight. 11 year old boys are a hassle (well, mine is). Anyway, this It drives me crazy. Anyone found a way to fix this? (removing the kid is not a viable long term solution).

Try the child lock buttons on the drivers' door. I don't know if it works.

Over the summer, I started to get real concerned that I was having an overheating issue with my transmission, as the center consol was getting really hot, and even with A/C on full, the car seemed to never cool off.

I was almost to the point of calling to drop it off for service when I noticed that both rear temperature controls were set as hot as they could go. For me it was not the result of unruly 11 year olds, but when I fold my seats down to put a bike in the back, I take the rear shelf off and place it in the rear seat footwell area, and I must have had it resting on the controls so that as it moved around, the dials rotated.

Mcqueen, if it happens again, just hit the "SYNC" button, and all temps change to how they are set up front.

There's really nothing we can do other than hope they don't break any of the climate control buttons. My kids just fidget with things which annoys me when they start messing around back there.
