Default Gas/exhaust smell in cabin 2016 S7

Has anyone ever heard og issues with engines smell i.e. A strong gas or exhaust smell coming through the vents when the turbos kick in? Have a brand new S7 and this is very concerning for me currently at the dealer but apparently they have having issues replicating it. Curious as if any otherw have heard of this and how you feel a situation like this should be handled.

I have driven a few S7s, and never had any kind of smell.. Gas and exhaust will smell VERY differently though, knowing which it is will help narrow it down.

The situation should be handled by the dealer - if necessary the should escalate to Audi Technical.

Probably oils and dirt burning off the exhaust.

Literally just experienced this today. I've got the 2016 S7 as well about 450 miles on it and whenever I really get into the upper rpm range I get that burning exhaust smell. Spoke to someone at the dealership and they said it was totally normal. The smell in mine isn't very strong at all, every time I hop in it still smells like new leather. Maybe like a 4/10 at its very worst.

I have just over 4K miles on my 2016 S7 and have never experienced that issue. Any car but especially in this class, should not have that problem, period, dot.
Whoever you spoke to at whatever dealership he works at needs a good talking to and that might best be served by AoA. If your dealer can't solve this then they will step in. I think 1/10 would be sufficient to cause concern.

Audi is flying someone out tomorrow to look at mine. Had a second instance of potent smell, have been driving with a CO monitor and it has shown a warning light that CO was detected. Along with this I have experienced light headedness and headaches a few time while driving. They finally decided to take the car from me last week until they were able to get someone out to take a closer look.

I will keep you updated as to what they say.

I've experienced 2 different engine scents so far in the car. The first just smelled like a burning and the second smelled like gas. The first I've been told is the anti-rusting agent they apply onto the vehicle and that made sense however the gas smell I've been getting after putting my foot down on the highway ramp or even just through the city is a little bit more disturbing. Its not enough to make me light headed or to trigger a CO sensor. Should I still be worried? Please let me know what information audi can provide you with.

The burning smell is reminiscent of when I first got my A6 three years ago after a full throttle then letting up on the gas. I was told by the dealer it can sometimes happen when the factory sprays the under body protectant and some gets on the exhaust. It gradually burned off and the smell disappeared after a few weeks. I can't speak to a gas smell though - never experienced that.

Default Comment From Audi On Smell

The only comments I received back from Audi flying someone out is the air quality in the cabin is within EPA Standards. When I asked what I should do if the issue continues to happen I was told bring it in but that they currently do not have a fix and were unsure what they would do with the car if I did bring it in. All in all they basically told me to live with it or file suit with them. Needless to say I am very disappointed is how they have dealt with the issue and will look into the Lemon Law and if it qualifies.
